The Global Article 9 Campaign to Abolish War has placed public notices
in newspapers throughout the world with the objective of promoting
Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution.
This campaign has been
held in two consecutive years. For more information about the
notices placed in 2005, click here.
In 2006, public notices were placed in each continent - Asia,
Oceania, Africa, Europe, North and South America, in the following countries:
- Australia
- Canada
- Costa Rica
- Greece
- Hong Kong
- Japan
- Mongolia
- Russia
- Sri Lanka
- South Africa
- Switzerland
- Taiwan
The first public notice placed was in Japan's Asahi Shimbun on November 2, the
eve of the 60th anniversary of the proclamation of Japan's Peace Constitution.
The notice, coverin g calls on readers to consider the question, "Can peace really
